I hope your O.K and the car doesnt look that bad, that looks very light damage for a 40mph impact.
-
is the floor pan creased?
-
Old MK2's are tough! Bet hers was a complete mess Knobby!
Hope you mend well and just think with all that compensation you could have a mental MK2!
-
wow! if thats all the damage recieved i think that's a testimant to how tough mk2's are! unlucky though mate. hope you take the offending driver to the cleaners for whiplash etc
-
i was expecting to see a right mess then, but the old girl has held out pretty well!
make sure you milk them for all the have in terms of compo
-
Sorry to hear that mate.
Something tells me there is more damage than is being shown (hidden), hard to believe something didn't give somewhere else being hit at 40mph. I hope it's just the bumper and the bit under the tailgate though

Michael W Halsall Soliciters. just recieved an offer for £3000 for the same accident in my mk1. it only needed a new bumper!

ah dont mention that name to me, i used to work for a company that dealt with them!
did you get any letters from Speed Medical?
-
they contacted me.HIC use them as soliciters for any vehicle damage issues and personal claims. Tbh, theyve been very professional and dealt with everything with speed. No letters from speed medical. they used their approved 'indipendant' medical expert. even got petrol money there and back refunded! i was completely truthfull with the claim, with moderate 4/10 pain for a week after, then pain when only driving for long distances for a month after. I think Michael W Halsall did a god job.
-
ah right, coz Halsalls always used to use Speed Medical and their panel for experts. I wasnt on their team so I never knew what they were like, only that they needed a dedicated team to handle there work!

Insurance company wrote off the car today... Offered me £850... Any words of advice on how to increase this offer would be appreciated..
Cheers
Knobby..

Send them any photos of your car that support your claim that your car is worth more than the offer and get a few Golf mags and cut out the adverts for cars that are close to yours in condition, age and miles. Explain that your not trying to just get as much as you can out of them but your trying to show what it will cost you to replace your car with one of similar age and condition ect.
-
Also try and buy it back for a small sum. Strip it down and keep what you want or sell bits off.
-
£855 was with me keeping the car... they recon its worth £900.. then minus £45 for salvage value.. so meaning i keep the car.
Im probably gonna keep it, do the work that needs doing then do an engine conversion in my spare time.

mk2's take shunts from the rear admirably  nowt a mobile jig wont be able to sort out cheapish if you do decide to keep it :undecided: dont they like make you a lousey first offer or summat?
-
Generally first offer will be 15-20% under what they will actually pay.. the offer sounds pretty good tbh, maybe stick out for another £100.. and be done with it..

she was in a new BMW mini, and didnt see me right until the last minute.. i think where her car dipped so much as she braked so hard the impact was very low on my car.. thats all I can think it was.
-
£900?! thats sh!te, you can get more than that, surely!
