shoe polish is fantastic, lasts ages (i jet washed mine 2 days ago, the polish has been on for 2 months and STILL looks great). Plus its really cheap!!
-
Kiwi black shoe polish [with wax is better].
I swear by the stuff, and lasts sooooooo much longer than expensive autoglym!
Apply and quickly rub in the excess with a rag.
Only cost £2, and there is enough left for another coat.
-
Good pics i'm off to get some shoe polish. I've been using autoglym which is alright until you wash the car.
-
you can get a bumper rub, rub it on whihc leaves a white dust effect then just wipe off. comes out well.
-
kiwi shoe polish is the nuts, tried it on mine a few days back, apply a few coats and they look almost brand new!! if you light the polish with a match and let it burn for a few secs then put it out with the tin lid its easier to work with...
-
Hi Guys - Can you use the shoe polish on the tyres too? I think they could do with a clean.

while we are on the subject of shoe polish, try those small hand helb sponge aplicators for the dash and interior trim, i have been usin them for years, i got a pack of ten form a quid shop, last ages, kiwi do them too in all diff colours but make sure u get the clear one, works a treat and its nice and easy
-
if the bumpers are really bad then use hydraulic oil, take your time and rub it in well and it feeds the plastic and they come up gleaming, than leave for a bit and wipe it down and use a dashboard polish to give it some shine
-
HAHA i just spent £8 i think it was on autoglym bumper care! <<<<MUGGED OFF
-
i use Turtle Wax black in a flash gel works like a treat, but gonna give the shoe polish a blast on the weekend and see how good that is
-
can anybody put up some pics of the finish with shoe polish please
-
Will take a before and after with Kiwi shoe polish tonight mate.
Just been doing my old GTI arches ready to sell and I still have 1 not done yet so can do a comparison side by side

can anybody put up some pics of the finish with shoe polish please

So whats best the old stuff in a tin or the bottle stuff??
-
In a bottle with the sponge applicator on top
-
another way and guys be careful doing this but use a hair drier or a height gun on them. the sun bleaches the black pigment from the bumpers if your careful and keep a fair distance away so you dont melt em you will be amazed at the difference as the direct height draws out the black pigment to the surface and it lasts for ages. then just some polish to give it the shine
-
Use the stuff with the sponge applicator, I have found its the best
Looks the nuts when the car it all clean, waxed etc
-
sponge one is the best, wouldnt bother trying anything else!!
-
linseed oil works really well
-
kiwi show polish as an undercoat followed by meguiars trim detailer to keep the show polish protected and everything looking top notch!
-
ive been told to use old engine oil, it feeds the plastic apparently, as obv plastic is an oil by-product..
-
I've just tried some autoglym bumper care for the first time, very impressed with the finish and beading.
I'll have to wait and see what happens when i wash it!
-
I wiped small amounts of Megs endurance tyre gel on mine as a test (plus I didn't have anything else) and it looks ace. Its been two weeks and there's no greying yet.
-
does the tyre gel have a high amount of silicone in it? does it affect your wash suds at all?
-
Don't know. Not washed it yet - I'll let you know.
-
I used the back2black stuff from turtlewax and it worked really well, although most of the can probably went into the atmosphere and my lungs
When it fades I'll try the sponge top shoe polish. Maybe the wax based one first then the sponge top for extra assurance
