As in expansion tank every other day.
Oil at correct level.
Ideas?
(carpets dry)
-
coolant leak. (hopefully not head gasket!)
look under bonnet, and look up at the engine from below if you can.
likely candidates are water pump, and the platic coolant hose flange from the front of the block.
any mayo in oil ?
-
Just out of interest how often should you top water up, my water light comes on once a week but do do on average 400 miles a week, so have to top it up?
-
No mayo.
No damp on block.
Checked all hoses, cant see anything.
-
My corrado was leaking from the cylinder head flange thing, i didn't figure it out until i popped the bonnet after a long drive and saw a tiny bit of steam.....
The flange itself should only cost about a tenner and is mega easy to change, i'd try that first and see if it cures the problem. Apparently they are prone to cracking (although mine was fine, it had been sealed with silicone instead of an o ring, which was the issue!!)

If you have no luck finding a leaj yourself, take it to a local garage and get the coolant system pressure tested.
-
Had the car up on ramps doing the exhaust and noticed water leaking from floor pan.
I gather thats the heater element fooked then.
-
Sounds like the matrix yes.
Cheap enough to replace if you do it yourself, quite a pain to do it though.
-
had very same symtoms white , i had a bad coolant flange too replaced it , still leaking ???? i got a bottle of rad flush , (it does what it sayes on the tin) and after that put a bottle of rad seal in and touch wood nadda not a drop since march , 145 miles per week give it a go if your unsure about the matrix its gonna cost 15 euro max sorry atenner ha ha
-
take the expansion bottle cap off and shake it,you should be able to hear it rattle inside.if not it is shagged as the valve inside is jammed open and will let the water out when the pressure builds up.if it has done this the water will run down the chassis leg and under the car and rip out.original caps are black in colour, replacement one are blue.cost about £4:00. let us know......joe

I do about 350 a week and top up the water about once a month. Am guessing you have a small leak somewhere!
-
Will check the cap in morning.
Its an expansion tank every other day now that the heater is on, lol
So its: expansion tank, flange (somewhere i cant remember) maybe some hoseing and possible a rad too!
Meh!

cheers mate will check it out this weekend

gr, i have this problem too, that flange thing coming off the block on mine has a load of green build up on it, so im guessing my problems there. i hate leaks
-
yes and if its really shagged you should have arusty coloured stain down the block under the flange and onto the gearbox housing
-
Expansion tank cap dont rattle, so its that too!
Windscreen is so Fogged up cant see out, lol
So, erm, pic of where this flange is please!
-
if ur windows have fogged up i would say its heater matrix, had this on my car
-
if screen misted up inside it's the matrix for definate, have just found the same problem on the '84 mk2 that i have just bought
-
Paddleing pool for a passenger footwell!
-
yeah thats matrix alright, its not that hard of a job too do
