Hi Guys
Seen some pictures of the Votex kit on some GTi's and it looks stunning!
I like the fact that the side skirts dont arch around the wheel like on the standard gti's.
Anyone know where i can get the 2 side skirts and rear bumper parts from?
Do the dealers do these or is it places like ebay that i should be looking?
-
dealer will supply this but expect to pay a few quid mind. You can try Ebay but you might find the quality isn't the same unless they are genuine VAG parts.
another place is www.vwspeed.com they deal with OEM parts and the service and price are pretty good
-
maxamus - Can you post any pics or a link to pics so we can all see which Votex kit you are referring to? Ta
-
yes, piccies, please!

As you can see, it looks gorgoues!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 :afro:
-
isn't that similar to the ED30 Front spoiler?
I'm not too sure about the rear add on, prefer the rear bumper in the side view. It is another stunning image of the golf in white though
-
I use to hate white on GTi's but over the past few months i've fallen in love with it!
Damn it looks super sexy in white!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Cool side view is Oettinger. And Oettinger side skirts are not so cool in my opinion, look like 4x12's.
Rieger side skirts looks much better, then comes Caractere. And the same order for rear spoiler: first Rieger (), then Caractere (or B&B, which is similar).
-
I much prefer the Mk5 R32 sides and OSIR front. But each to their own and that Candy White looks very cooool.

Front spoiler definitely is the ED30 spoiler. See mine below

-
It does not seem to be Ed30 front spoiler, as Votex spoiler has so to say open space in it, while spoiler on Ed30 does not.

You may be right :embarassed:

get ABT front spoiler. That's the scheisse! Looks fabulous (costs a lot, too)
-
theres all these kits out there but how on earth do you source them?
I thinki might just get the R32 side skirts (which are on ebay at £100) and the rear Votex bumper (which is £320 on ebay).
Both items come primed so they will just need painting. The front lip spoiler i think i'll keep but get it colour coded. Total i estimate with labour and stuff to be around £650 - £700.
-
You people are so lucky. We dont get these kits etc down here. We could but unlike America etc we cant get it on the car standard. Have to import it and get a company to fit it.
i think it makes the car look

....I got mine via the TTshop in Bedford for nearly half that price!! They ordered them from VW Germany and came primed ready to paint. Also, my OSIR front splitter cost less than the Votex and there's much more to it! I would steer clear of fleeBay - Those so-called 'shops' are never cheaper in my experience.

You like this OSIR front? For some reason it reminds me of Ford Focus ST front... It is not very subtle.
IMHO, ABT front and Rieger or Caractere back are the best looking.

....Well, each to their own of course - It would be dull if we all liked the same.
I think the Abt front (I have Abt rear to accommodate my quads) is fussy compared to the OSIR. The Rieger sides and rear are incredibly over fussy and the front looks better but is getting a bit 'max-power', besides being very impractical on UK roads. The Caractere rear is quite the worst I've seen with that shiny black section which also is far too high.
What I like about mine is that it could be mistaken for being stock and is in my opinion fairly subtle.

any rear views?

i dont think our car would get up our driveway with a lip like that...........

Respect.
I thought about quad exhaust... why would a car like Golf need four pipes? I think it is just tooooo much! Man, I saw Alfa with 6 pipes! Crazy.
ABT back is great, it is subtle. Rieger back with diffuser in the middle, in my opinion, looks nice on black and red cars. For white ones I like ABT or Oettinger (with the white stripe, like on their website) rears.

Rang the local stealer up today to get some prices.
- R32 Side skirts are £30 each and they come primed ready for painting.
- GTI Front skirt bumper strip is £40 and it comes primed ready for painting.
I'm going to order those this weekend and also order the Votex rear bumper off ebay which costs £330 (Icl P&P).
So thats £430 just for materials. Add £150 for paint and labour. Total cost around £600 which isnt bad!
-
any rear views?
....I assume you are asking me.

....Many Thanks! Your comment is appreciated and it's good to know that others enjoy her as much as I do.
The Mk5 GTI is going to be a hard act to follow for VW.
-
Its no problem mate.
Do you have any more pics you could post please?
-
Red Robin
How did you attach the other 2 exhausts?
Im assuming they are just dummies........
And what side skirts are those?
Do the exhaust ends on the GTi come off easily because mine have gone black and i would like to get them looking new by replacing them........

I agree whole-heartedly. There were some pics of the coming golf flowing around. It looked

what do you mean - dummies?!?
they are operational! The pipes are welded to the backbox like on a normal exhaust! It is all koscher!
Question is - whether you need 4 pipes on GTI. I mean, on M5 there should be 4 huge pipes, they give the car a finished agressive look. But GTI? For symmetry - 4 look great. But asymmetric 2-pipe exhaust is great too! Basically - you cannot go wrong with GTI, 2 on one side, 1 on each side, or 2 on each side... errr.. yes you can - 2 in the middle exhaust like on R32
-
ahh i see.
I wouldnt mind having 1 exhaust either side rather than both of them together...

Then you should visit either Caractere:
http://www.rsdcars-uk.co.uk/images/frontpage/CARACTERE/VOLKSWAGEN/GOLF_V/GTI3_small.JPG
or B&B:

Personally, I like 1-on-each-side most of all!

nice pictures. Is it an expensive job putting 1 exhaust either side?
That Caractere rear bumper is nice. Cost and where are they sold?

I do not think Caractere is that expensive.
B&B is German. They do many things for VW, just like Oettinger or ABT.

-
Ha! I just realised that B&B uses Caractere parts.
Well, then it is just Caractere who does 1+1.
B&B is well-known VAG tuner, so they have more than just body kits.

....As Peskarik has posted - They're not dummies but full-on Hi-flow+Downpipe Milltek. I got offered a good deal early on in their production. I know they're not necessary but neither are my carbonfibre wing mirrors etc.
And what side skirts are those?
....Standard Mk5 R32 from VW.
Do the exhaust ends on the GTi come off easily because mine have gone black and i would like to get them looking new by replacing them........
....The Milltek exhaust system is all prime grade stainless steel and guaranteed for as long as you own the car.

That is a damn fine lookin exhaust system!! Although I already have a sad obsession with keeping my standard pipes gleaming, I think four would mean I would spend more time polishing than driving!
-
"polish your pipes regularly"
All sounds a bit kinky to me

I'm probably gonna be shot for this but my car gets washed by some eastern europeans in a pub car park... a fiver well spent imo (and no wet footprints in the kitchen). My question is: what do you use to keep the pipes gleaming... mine now have a dull matt appearance?
RedRobin: your car, especially from the front, is the dog's nuts... I love the mirrors. Not over-the top at all.
-
....Thanks for the compliment.
Re cleaning exhaust pipes, I use a supermarket non-scratch scouring pad with a bit of water and then polished with an old T-shirt. That's on stainless steel but I guess it would work on stock exhaust tips. I wouldn't clean a car you care about with any sponge or high-powered jet. The sponge will hold grit particles and scour paintwork.
-
Solvol Autosol and a piece of cloth 2"" x !0" used in a sawing motion around both exhaust tips
Cass

Autoglym metal polish works for me.

I concur, use Autosol all the time, very good stuff. However, just bought some P21S metal polish, which has also produced excellent results.
