Hi All.
I just bought a gunmetal grey Mk 2 16V GTi...my first foray back to Golfs since I had my first car, a MK2 Driver, some 15 years ago!
It's in really really good shape rust and paint-wise except for the strip below the grille and headlamps, which I'm replacing.
Problem is, I don't have a garage and I live beside the sea, so I want to make sure that the car is protected from the elements - salt water in the air, sand which blows up off the beach, etc.
Has anyone got any advice on a good quality car cover. One that breaths, as I live in Ireland and it rains all the time here. I reckon I will use the car at weekends only.
Many thanks,
Rob
PS: Bolsters on the outside of the drivers seat have gone. Again, I'd like to retrim it with the original grey cloth with multicolour check. Any advice, and remember that being in Ireland can make shipping costs to the UK problematic.
Thx. R

Re covers, have a look at airflow-uk.com or hamiltonclassic.co.uk
Hamiltons def do one for hatchbacks...
Re the seat cover, which colour check pattern is it? Red or yellow? Might have one you may be interested in.....

Thanks for the info on the car covers - I'll check it out.
I would be interested in the seat cover. The cloth is grey with three-colour check, greet blue and red.
Is yours cloth that has been taken off the frame or have you the entire seat.
What sort of wear is on the cloth? Pristine/good/fair/ or poor?
The car I have is is pretty pristine but has 140mls on it - I'd say the passenger seat is good to pristine. Obvioulsy, it would be ideal if I could get a good wear match on the two seats.

Can you post a pic of the check pattern? Would help to match it..... I have a cover of the red checkered taken from a passenger side with all material in place.

Will do. Is it fresh? The car's getting a bit of tidying done in the garage at the moment so it might be a day or so before I can post it. Why don't you email me your address and I'll send it directly...You have my address. Many Thanks. Rob
