hi im new with car mods and need to know what i need to buy to lower a mk3 golf......the car wa sused to tow before i got it and the back sits down and the front up as u wud expect ....so thi sis why im gettin the suspension fitted, but i thought id lower it at the same time so do i need to replace coil overs or springs or wot? plez help and what make would be gd to chose?

I would buy a full suspension kit (shocks and springs) if you want to lower the car and improve its handling significantly. Steer clear of any cheap max power (or such like) crap. It doesn't pay in the long run to buy a cheap suspension, although it will be good for a bit. Go for something like Koni or Bilstein. If you aren't short of money then get a set of fully adjustable coilovers.

I agree with the comments about not buying cheap kits.
If you just want to lower the car then buy some shortened springs.
I bought one of the Bilstein Streetline kits for about ?200. Mistakenly thinking that the Bistein name gauranteed a well engineered quality product. However, whilst the dampers appear to be OK, the springs are over stiff and not progressive. The dampers and springs are not matched at all. The end result is a harsh and bouncy ride.
In my experience you get what you pay for as far as suspension components are concerned. In future I'm going to stick to Koni and or Eibach.

i have fitted a g&n lowering kit to my mk3, paid ?250 for it and i am personally happy with both the ride quality and the looks of it, (40mm drop)
