 When I got home the other half said "Didn't you see it?"
Insurance are footing the bill, £1300 (minus my excess) worse still I've got the pleasure of a 1.2 Fiesta for the week (http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-3/969979/damage0507.jpg)

unlucky!!
that happened to me with a polo i used to own.... drove to close to a bollard... nearly crapped myself when i heard the bang!!
off topic but u mentioned about getting a fiesta.... well my golf going in garage this thursday for new steering rack.... asked for a replacement car for couple of days.... hinted at getting the Touareg.... but no.... i'm getting a Fox!!! :embarassed: :embarassed:
-
Tourag would be nice! I was actually glad for the Fiesta as it was parked next to a Daewoo Matiz. Not that I would have entertained the idea of driving off in it. Off topic further, but the sheddiest loan car I had was a Peugeot 106 with dual control... good fun when the wife was driving though!
Back on topic, I was suprised to get a visit from an insurance assessor with a tyre depth gauge!
-
oh my worst one was an old shed of a fiat!!!
cos obviously a bald tyre would make you go into a bollard silly   he probably got his paper work mixed up " bald tyre " instead of "bollard"
-
guess what i was given as a courtasy car.................. and when i arrived i also asked if they had a balaclava aswell................

yeah i got a beetle too when my old polo went in for a service.... thank god it was just for the day!! i kept driving up onto the pavements cos i couldn't see with the huge wheel arches
-
with the roof down , god help anyone behind in the rear view mirror cus all you can see is BLACK from the roof canvas when its fully down!
-
nothing wrong with New Beetles...I've had two, and the 1.8t version gives plenty of unsuspecting drivers frights when it accelerates away...when they think the Beetles are slow as hell
-
everytime i see one Barbie springs to mind!

£1300 blimey, someone taking the Insurance companies pants down

Thats just what I was about to say!

Looks similar to the damage caused to my MKV GTTDI when someone reversed down one side. That incident cost "only" £850.
-
1300quid? for that!!!
thats wayyyyyy to steep imo!
-
There is already a thread on the damage to my car.

That cost £200 so I don't know where they got £1300 from.
-
I suppose they may be thinking of putting a new door skin on, but I still think their having a bubble bath.

My sentiments entirely... I had two quotes, Listers bodyshop was about the same. (£1050+vat)
It is actually a bit worse than it looks as the sill is dented, as is the drivers door and the rear wheel arch is scuffed.
The insurance company have been excellent; Elephant.co.uk. I've got protected no claims but I expect it'll go up regardless... I'll find out in July when it's time to renew. :undecided:
I've never driven a Beetle, I know my other half fancies one (I'll get a flower holder for her 206 if it comes to it?!)
-
The b!tch is back... and looking good.
A week with the Fiesta has taught me one thing... The Golf GTi is the dog's b0110x.
As I pulled away from the garage I nearly gave myself whiplash... Smiling loudly again.
The only one gripe I have is all those smug gits in their ED30's. Maybe one day eh?

Nice result - the repair looks good as new
Now watch out for any more bollards
