Title: Can You Still Order A 30 Edition GTI?
Post by: deanpoli on 03 June 2007, 15:00
As the title suggests, can you still order a 30 Editon GTI? even if you could? would it be worth trading one in for a standard GTI?

Rolling roads suggest it outputs 244bhp as standard even though VW rate it as 230bhp offically. Now considering a remap can improve the power output to 250bhp on a standard GTI, you can't help but think that the 30 Edition has a modified 2.0 TFSI unit coping with the extra power they put init. And a remapped standard GTI wasn't designed to to have 230bhp like the uprated 30 Edition 2.0 TFSI is.

Then there's the warranty issues?

engine in the ED30 is a detuned version of the 2.0TFSI unit found in the new Audi S3; a remap of the ED30 should see you somewhere near the 300bhp!!

not sure if you can still order one  :undecided:

Probably because the brochure has a red one, so most dealers got a red one as their demo car.  The only problem is that they tend not to bother with the extras in their demo cars... and most people want extras!!!

Affirmative.
Plus, red is a girly color (unless it is Ferrari of Alfa).  :smug:

Would it be worht it to trade in a standard GTI in for a 30 Edition?  bearing in mind the mark 6 is due for release in march 2008.

Depends how old the GTI was?  If your GTI was 3 years old and you fancied a new car then why not... otherwise its a bit of a waste of money in my opinion.  MK6 Golf is due 2008... but MK6 GTI isn't due until the end of 2008 - mid 2009.

I'd probably tune up and wait for the MKVI

don't waste money. Get a chip and color code, maybe lower suspension - and you are set!
