Front wipers - I know there have been several topics about this, but I'm not aware of any so odd as mine!

On friday, I wash-wiped, and the wipers did a couple of wipes before stopping in the middle of the screen. Now, they will stop randomly on wash-wiping, do nothing on normal speed, work on fast speed but stop immediately I switch off fast speed, without returning to the bottom of the screen.

What on earth could this be? Its seems like everything is breaking at once! Could it be a relay or the wiper arm/switch itself?

check that the wiper arms are not spinning on the splines, my back one was doing this

check for power at the motor when its wiping with a test light if power remains at the motor and the wiper stops problem is more than likely in the bushings in the motor, if the power cuts out at the same time as the wipers stop try a wiper relay.

replace the #19 relay with a #99 relay from a MK3 Golf or Passat.  If it doesn't fix the problem at least when you do, you'll have variable intermittant wipers :cool:
Next step would be stalk, then the wiper motor :)
