Hello to you all .I have received my new G60 arches to replace my tired old
standard GTI ones.As the car is almost ready for paint,i thought i would test
fit the new G60 arches,on doing so i noticed two plastic clip section's on the
top part of the curve on each of the arches.?? There are no holes on the outer
part of the gti wing's to receive these clip's.Do i remove the plastic clip's
or make holes in the wing's to receive these clip's ..Has any one fitted the above to standard gti wing's .Any help with this would be great. Many thank's

Is your golf 90-spec?
-
It's 1989 'G' big bumper
-
Oh, well i thought that g60 arches just clip on if you have big bumpers! I can help no more!
-
are they the front arches? are they genuine?
-
Yes they are genuine item's full set .It's only the front's that have these clip
holder's
-
as long as there are suficient holes for the rivets to attach the arches on then don't worry about the clips, I'd leave them on unless they are fouling/creating an eye sore!
-
are G60 arches much different to the standard GTI ones? has any one got any pictures? Can you still order these new from VW?
Thanks
Nathan

The arches are slightly wider. I bought genuine VW ones for less than some after-market could offer, about 6 weeks ago!

Ok great, My car is getting a respray in june and would consider fitting them. what was the cost?
Thanks

G60 arches are bonded on, not rivited like standard ones.
-
^ i found out about this when mine were fitted.
-
Genuine G60 wings have extra holes for those clips, plus most of the lip is already cut away for wide wheels :)
They arn't bonded on G60s, becasue the extra holes & clips hold the arches in place. On your car you can drill the holes or bond em.

Problem is if your G60 is lowered, the first time the bottom of the arch hits say a speed bump, it will rip the arch off. They need to be bonded even on a G60.
