What do you guys suggest? Another stainless system which is quiet if so which one, i've heard jetex 3 box system is meant to be quiet, but i keep hearing miltex being mentioned!?
Or do i just go for a standard setup??
Cheers

I had a Jetex system on my 8 valve, and to be honest i don't understand why so many people say that they are quiet!
Supersprint are quiet, both in 2 box and 3 box form. I've been through a few different systems and the best for me was a Supersprint front and centre section, with a standard backbox. It makes a quality sound and feels good too! I also have a full VW system on an 8v and that is nice and quiet, especially on the motorway. I've never had a Miltek, but i've heard someone with one boot it off and it did sound rather nice!

ive a supersprint system with the centre box removed its quiet at motorway speeds etc. but its loud when you boot it
Supersprint with all the silencers in is meant to be quiet

Do supersprint do a stainless system?
-
Right, i've never worked this out properly! I think the silencers and internals are stainless, but the pipes are aluminised mild steel which are then painted. Whatever they are, my dad's system is around 5 years old now and is still fine! Depends how long you intend to keep the car for i suppose

Standard will be the quietest (and cheapest) but if its steel you want I have a Milltek and it's very reasonable for cruising and nicely throaty when your foot goes down though. Would always reccomend.
In comparison to others i have had on cars in the past - now don't laugh - a Peco Powermaster and a Peco Big Bore 4  , its far far far quieter!

iv a standard 8v exhaust from vag and its nearly silent when plodding along, with a nice low growl when under load. it has the best tailpipe design, and from changing it from the previous owners 'stainless performance exhaust', it is more responsive.
i had a supersprint race exhaust one box system on my mk1, and when running rich it used to spit out flames and was uber loud, but amazing build.
i had a full milltek exhaust and manifold and sports cat on a mk4 1.6 fiesta zetec s, and that was lovely. amazing build, quiet on tickover, and made it presence felt when under load.very raspy, and made 19bhp on before/after rolling road. i stress again, amazing quality, but £Â£Ã‚£
imo, full standard vag system, or as said before vag backbox, supersprint centre and middle sections. dont even think of gsf/ecp exhaust parts. just dont.

I wanted a quiet exhaust for my 16v.
Had a jetex stainless steel system for the last two years, as i heard they are quite.
Rubbish. They're not mega loud, but definitely throatier around town & it does drone on the motorway between 60-80mph. However, it does sound great when you boot it.
I've heard that supersprint are the quietest, and am getting one fitted with back & centre boxes. Will post what i think when i get it back.

I have just replaced the two middle sections on mine, a garage fitted it with a 'new non-VAG replacement' to get the job done, as it needed it when I got it. Four weeks in and I know that the rear section needs replacing too, it did at the time but was ok, should I get a genuine VAG back box or would it not make that much or any difference on performance/economy?
I am not going for silly money parts at the moment as I am a bit limited on the budget.
However in the future I would love to restore it back to a very high standard, remove the dinks and rust etc.

youll be supprised how reasonable vag exhausts are
