Title: headgasked blown
Post by: Bigdunc on 27 May 2007, 22:43
i just took my broken down mk2 16v to the garage looks like my head gasket blown. was i right in thinking that i could get a g60 head gasket to fit as there more heavy duty. at the same time im getting the valve  done and i think the guy said the tappets as they were getting noisy.

my engine code is kr i think whats the best head gasket to put on it.

thanks

No. G60's are 8v, so the headgasket wouldnt fit.

(correct me if im wrong anyone, but im pretty sure im not  )

8v & 16v head gaskets are identical, so a metal one would indeed fit.  It will drop the compression ratio a tiny but as they are ever so slightly thicker.  However just fit a good fibre gasket, they are more than up to the job :)
