i am looking to upgrade my 150bhp golf. i have already added a miltek/revo/baily dv/kn filter. but i need more and im thinking in the way of a turbo/manifold upgrade to possably k04 and a TT manifold. has any one done this and is it worth the wonga (about ?900 with my mates distount) if this is not the best route then what is.
Cheers Starry......

is the k04 any good as an upgrade every one i speak to says something diffrent. and is it or is it not a straight fowered bolt on and chip???? help i need more power i cant take it any longer.... >:(

if the turbo is from a TT then you'll need a downpipe aswell as the manifold, and ofcourse chipped to suit, or you wont see much of a gain. Other k04's bolt straight on, can't say for sure which ones are which, but again its not a huge power increase. Full kits like the APR stage III for about 4 grand will kick you up to around 300bhp and a stupidly large amount of torque, but you'll need a limited slip diff on top of that to handle the extra power.

the k04 turbo is also in the audi s3,apparently it can be a fairly weak turbo when stressed. But it can "safely" produced enough air for 230-240bhp.Remember that the audi tt 225 and s3 have forged mahle pistons and uprated rods, crank etc so can withstand high psi and larger injectors.A standard s3 can produce 210 at 1 bar or 225 at 1.1bar.I would suspect that you don't won't to go above 1 bar on a standard gti engine ,hopefully producing 200bhp.Also check your injector size, think there 317cc,so good for around 210bhp.regards Ryan
