Title: engines gone pop

well had the vr on the road since december
past 2 weeks it has been making a rattling noise

had it in bits to check it out could not find anything
driving to work monday engine went pop

bottom end has gone some shells are missing and badly damaged the crank
so i am goin to get a 2.9 vr to put in next once the powder coating
and engine bay is painted

it will be a machine when its done

i went on that link for the 2.9 corrado lump
putting deposit down tonight

paint engine bay this weekend hopefully
then get a price for powder coating i want a engine bay to be proud of this time

my cars at old skool performance they are fitting the new lump and get it all running
ready for the show in august haywood house i think its called

 mine makes a kind of funny noise when booting it, it goes well and runs fine but not sure what the noise is, what does pinking sound like? sorry to jack your thread! hope you get your car sorted!  :smiley:

when you really boot it it kind of makes a ... tinkeling noies?? its hard to discribe! lol  :rolleyes:

if it's a metalic tinkling, when on full throttle especially up hills, then it's pinking yeah. get the timing checked...

ah cool, i was running it on that 95 crap, filled up with 97 so shall see if that makes it any better!  :smiley:

Do you mean the show in Leeds Rob ? If so, it's Harewood House and the website for it is www.vwfestival.co.uk We have a stand at this one so look out for it in shows and events secstion and put your name down. :cool:

NO IFS OR BUTS .........this golf will be all rebuilt & at the harewood house Vw festival show , along with allof our in house project builds ........... :grin:

Robs golf will be having a full 5 stud conversion & bigger brakes & some new 16" hoops & tyres aswell while its in our shop.
Robs now seeing the rewards of letting us use his car on our new signs & business cards.

so contact rob if anyone would like to purchase a full 4 stud 280mm front brake & hub setup or a set of winter 15" alloys inc good 195-50-15 tyres  :wink: , vr6 2.8 head or other vr6 engine parts

hopefully shoud be ready but got to get my engine bay painted first

bloody thing keeps reacting with the degreaser and cracking so i will have to strip all the paint off again and redo it

havin a nightmare with the engine bay had a crack at it on saturday with nitromorse
still wont shift ended up scraping the wax seal off the bay so that needs redoin
but the paints a nightmare

took my gearbox home and tensioner and driveshafts to start painting
as i am goin for a black and white theme under the bonnet

found another suprise the sunroof aint sat properly so water is pouring in when it rains
it seems to have dropped at the back of the sunroof but i dont know if i can adjust it
or if i need to replace it

need to get it ready for harewood house
its at oldskoolperformance need 4 cars ready for the show
including mine just things aint goin right at the moment lol
