Title: Power and Head Unit
Post by: dTEA on 26 May 2007, 17:41
Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can shed light on this scenario for me.  I have had to reconnect all the old cables to an ISO block to run my new head unit as I wanted iPod and 2 pre-outs on the Head Unit, so bought a new un.  The cabling is connected so that the red is to red, black to black etc etc.

BUT the head unit loses all its setting each time i switch the ignition off.  I know that the red should be a permanent live and therefore trickle a residual amount of power to maintain settings but its as if with the ignition barrel turned to off, there is nothing coming thru.

The Head Unit is in a MK2 Golf, if that makes a diff...could it be that the ignition barrel has been wired wrong when the new one was put in or am i being a bit dim here!?!?!?   I've had no probs wiring all my other motors nor any of my mates and have always followed the same steps.....any help appreciated fellas.

Red is actually a switched live. Yellow is a permanent live so do as rowlers says.
