Went to my dealer today to see if i could get a quote on some Monza 18"'s. He said if were to order the 18" i would need to change the suspension so it can adapt to the 18" Iv never heard of this before and im sure if he is speaking the truth or is he trying to rip me of? If im planning on lowering the car with the Eibach Pro Kit, would i really need to order a whole new set of suspension so i can put a pair 18's on the car? Any help would be appreciated lol and i know you guys know your stuff
-
sounds like he's talking a load of bull to be honest! why would the suspension differ from cars with 17' to 18' wheels!!
go back to him and tell him what a plonker he is!!
(unless someone confirms that I'm the one talking bull!)
-
Another dealership talking bollox as usual..
-
lol Complete rubbish!!!!!!!!! Muppets.
-
Sounds like bollox and I bet cost cutting VW arent going to bother with two different suspension set ups on the production line! :smug:
-
All balls. See the brochure. GTi has sports suspension - nothing to do with the wheels.
-
So i dont need to worry about putting 18" wheels :)
-
Go back and tell him I said he's a flange.
-
Manu,
It is complete and utter rubbish. If that's the kind of "expertise" that your dealer comes up with I'd hate to hear what other crap they come out with :-
"Oh you need your oil changing sir, in that case you will need a new engine to put it in"
Or
"The tyres you've chosen don't run well with the gearbox, so we'll have to change it for an upgrade"
Ignore their so called advice and order the 18" Monza's.
-
Haha "Oh you need your oil changing sir, in that case you will need a new engine to put it in" hahaha what a joker  I want the Monzas but i want them in black like Ollieb7! Do i need to order the normal monza's and then get them painted or do i buy them in black itself?
-
Bollox

So are the Black Monza's available from my Local Dealer or would they need to be purchased from some where else?
-
I believe the wheels you want are called Rockinghams.
Accordingly to Ollieb7 they are dealer available but at a price! Not sure if they cost more than Monza 2s??
-
They are both lovely rims! I deffinatley prefare the Monza 2's (18") over the Monza (17") as they look soooo different even thou the design of the rim is the same! As much as i want the Monza's in Black im having doubts as it my make the car look abit dull or boring, not to sure! Iv ordered the Eibach Pro Kit, should be on its way just need to make a choice on rims now....Either the Monza's in Black, Monza 2's or these HRE rims iv seen on a website...Comments Please!

I've just bought a GTi and had the dealer fit the 18" Monza II's to it before picking it up. Seems alright to me, however it did breakdown with a coilpack failure 200 miles after picking it up. So it seems the dealer is talking tosh - no mods needed to the suspension but watch out for those coilpacks ! (only joking )
-
Did u get the 18" Monza II's for free!
-
I'd go with the HRE rims, IMHO, the black Monza's don't do it and look too flat and dull .

18" monza II's = £375 EACH at my local Stealers
-
I want Rial Nogaro myself:

They have them in 8x18 and 8x19 ET40. I wonder if they would fit :undecided:
-
HRE rims look better IMO
If you do decide on them you will need a day out to clean the by the looks of it
Rials look sweet too, but with both rims I'd watch out for the dreaded laquer flake effect

Monza 18" for free...ahh c'mon. I wish!
We're talking VW here not Oxfam.

You never know mate! One Day we might all get lucky!!
-
You simply MUST get the HRE rims, as to keep mine and ollieb7's black monzas more exclusive!!!
Seriously though i do think the HRE's look a little after market ,where as the rockinghams retain that stock look
But each to there own i guess :undecided:

I do really really like both Rims and im having a look at the two and i obviously need to make a choice on a set of rims. Still waiting for a price on both sets of rims so....as soon as i find out the price i will need to make a choice i guess. I do agree with u mk5dubber as the HRE Rims do look abit over the top but if im gonna spend my money, i want it well spent and im not sure which look i am trying to achieve with the car!

If they did have them at Oxfam, they'd be considerably more expensive than the VW stealer!
