As the Cat woke me up at 5.30 this morning, is was ready for work bright and early, so I thought I’d set off and take the long way round and give the motor a bit of a blast.
Well 8 or so miles into the journey, the rear view mirror was full of some kinda Toyota thingy, so I squeezed the loud pedal a little more, then more, and so on, and still this thing hung on to me, now I know it’s easier to follow someone, rather than lead, but this thing was nippy, I managed to pull away from it on longer sections between bends, but it was like a Jack Russell at my ankles.
As we hit traffic we parted company, and I noticed Auris 2.2D on the tailgate, when looking up the engine spec’s, I see it has 400 nm of torque. :
Still a jaw dropping £20k for a near basic one though, is it me, or have car prices shot up ovger the last couple of years?

180ps and 400Nm Torque, they are quick and light. I've only been in the verso (don't ask) but I guess in a light car they go like stink, especially with all that torque.
I had a young kid in a pug xsi try it on last night. I let him nudge ahead and then ouldn't resisit a little dabble on the loud pedal. Quite funny really, at the next lights (he was behind me) he tried to "push" me along and even went to overtake. I think when I was 1/2 a mile ahead 2 seconds later he realised it wasn't a good idea. I kinda wished he had a better car to play against..... Focus ST??

I have to say i don't really like to 'play' with other cars - i find if i do, it's possible to do some really stupid speeds and frankly its not responsible. If i 'play' i like to do it on my own - Signed - the old w#nker!

Just like all Jap-crap rice-burners, they make 'em as light as a feather, with as much structural integrity as a worn out bath sponge.
Watch em in a crash, and they fold up with more dexterity than origami.
I bet with that particular Toyota, the actual engine weighed more than the rest of the car combined.
Oh, and I bet the interior was rather vomit-inducing too!
