Hello there

I have a mk3 colour concept that i absolutly love to bits i looked at loads befour i found it.  One of the First things that i changed was the suspension (i wanted it lower and also to go where i point it)  i found some second hand H & R coilovers for ?250(absolute bargain) but i was let down at the last minuite (gutted) anyway i decided to spend the money on a suspension kit from a reputable company at a show. I fitted them and to my suprise the ride was pants and it was lower on one side at the front.

Since then i have returned them and put boge turbo shocks on and some second hand lowered springs (not always adviseable) and the ride is alot better BUT......

I still wish that i had saved some more money for the coilovers as these would have given me the best of all worlds.

The morrel to this story is don't skimp on things and you will allways be satisfied.

And if anyone has any coilovers for a 96onwards mk3 GTI going cheap give me a shout.

Has anyone had any experience with Eibach springs?  Are they any good?  It says on their website that they're designed to work with standard-equipment shocks - Does anyone have any disagreement with this?

I can get hold of some for about 150 quid- is this a good price?  Will the ride be f**ked by only spending this much on lowering?

Cheers
Rich.

eibachs are the bollox, they can be used with standard shocks, so should all be ok if the shocks are in good nick.

I have a Golf MK3 TDi, which is slowly metamorphasising into a MK3 GTi (at least appearance wise). However, there is wheel gap the size of the Suez canal between the wheel and the wheel arches.

Front Gap is 2.5 inches
Rear Gap  is 3.5 inches,

so the questions are,
a) should the car be lowered (Rhetorical or what ?)
b) by how much ?
c) will this cure the difference in front/back level ?
d) how does this affect the insurance ?
e) will the car start eating its bump stops ?
f) will this improve braking ?

Would appreciate your experience !

im runnin eibach (-25mm) springs, raceland shox & eibach ARB's on my 16v and the handling is immense, and the ride is not one bit harsh either

i got my eibachs delviered to my door for ?115, but had to do a bit of bargaining to get them for that price inc delivery

Good question - I too was wondering about insurance costs.

...& Gambit - Thanks for the info.... eibachs it is then ( but I'll look for a better price tho' WHERE'd YOU GET YOURS????).   Are the prices higher for newer/bigger cars  ('cos the Mk4 is a big bit heavier than the mk2)???

i got mine from Carnosseur in Inverness, the fella who runs it is on the corsasport board, and i inhabitated that board for about 3yrs previous to this, so i done a bit of bargaining between all the traders on there and that was a low as any of them would go
