Title: engine mount ??????????

Have recently purrchased a mk 2 1.3 clutch seens very juddery. i can move the engine slightly by hand does this indicate the mount has gone or is there some play to be expected. In comparison my gti 16v engine doesnt seem to move ( is the mount stiffer ) :smiley:

like joe said, best thing to do is get someone to sit in your car with the hand brake on while you watch the engine (engine running),
Now get the chap in the drivers seat to gently raise the clutch as if to pull away in first gear (very gently), if the front mount has gone, you will see the engine lift/rock right back. i hope this helps :smiley:

job done been too german sweedish and got myself a new shiney mount
