Go out with a instructor if possible and take your time. Don't get flusterd by faster cars coming up behind you and always signal to the side of the track which you are going to. Most tracks have rules on what side to let faster cars past anyway. Don't beast your car for the entire session, slow down for a couple of laps to let the brakes and engine cool a little, don't put your handbrake on in the pits, just leave it in gear to avoid warping your rear discs.

Keep a watchful eye for your tyre pressures building up too, escpecially if its a warm day. Reset them just before you go out for your next session if required. You'll get a feel for when they are going off.
