Title: Can you still buy the door trims for a MK2 Golf GTI?

Hi,

Just wondered if anyone knows it you can still buy the door trims for a mk2 golf gti (the trim with the red gti badge for a 3dr) from VW and if so what the part number is?

Tried to buy a replacement for my passenger door from GSF this morning but they said they could no longer get them. Also tried my local VW dealer a few months ago (when I noticed the trim was coming loose) but they said they couldn't order them as the car is over 15 years old (think he couldn't be bothered to check tho).

Anyone know if you can still get them new or I will have to resort to fleabay to try and get some?

I think its a job for ebay i've been trying to get some. GSF said i should be able to get them from VW or a local specialist breaker that they gave me the number for.

Getting much harder to come by now unfortunately, just keep an eye out on the forums really.

What is actually happening to it, you mentioned coming loose?

my vote is with ebay, seen loads on there recently... i say recently, about a week ago... just have half an hour searching 'vw golf mk2' should find one in no time.

Cool, looks like I will just have to continue my search on ebay then (all the ones I have seen so far on there have been pretty poor condition tho). Tried GPC too but they said that they do not sell them by themselves just as part of the whole GTI kit (arches) etc.

Unfortunately some of the plastic clips on the back of my trim has broken so it will not attach to the door any more and finally fell off on Friday night.

You won't need new trim then, you'll need new clips :smiley:

Edit: Ahh it fell off and no where to be found.

Not that bad - heard it dragging along the road so stopped and popped it off the door and put it in the boot. Unfortunately it is not broken clips that are the problem more that the moulded plastic on the back off the trim that the clips connect in to is (hence only half the trim is attached to the door).

Just checked with another VW Dealer today and apparently the trim was discontinued in May 2005.....joy!

cant even get em from germany or south africa as believe me we have tried those clips always seem to break the cheap answer is to use eposy resin and glue them to the door only uoi will know
