Hello peps - I think my front engine mount could do with changing as it's flexin quite a bit ...
Just had a butchers in the Haynes manual and there's sweet FA about how to do it. I'm sure it's gonna be easy but how is it done ?
I'm not gonna use anything but VW parts - anyone bought a front mount lately and know how much it is ?
Cheers

if your going to do the front then its probably best if you do the rear at the same time?
Mine need doing as I have an annoying rattle

I think its about ?30 from GSF or Europarts. I think my rear needs done and thats about ?20.

Right, to replace, undo the top nut, also loosen gearbox mount. Place jack under engine and lift clear of front mount. Remove the 2 bolts from underneath the front beam. Then she slides off.
I replaced mine with a diesel front mount as its tougher than a standard Gti one. Again i would advise to replace all at the same time. Front: ?37 Gearbox: ?15 and back is about ?20

I would just replace the front mount unless the car has covered high mileage.
The front mounts usually always go first as they take most of the strain.
