for the Mark 6 I reckon they should make the R32 or R36 whatever its going to be called mid engined
Title: Re: GTI W12
Post by: monzablue16v on 19 May 2007, 17:39
Mid engined so it has to have  those ducts on the side otherwise it would be a bloody expensive non movable car! to put it to reason that's a biturbo V12 in effect, and rear wheel drive, where do you sign up to become a VW Kamikaze pilot!!

This is me stunned and shocked as I stare at that car......

This is me when I hear its being produced....

This is me when I realise I will probably never be able to afford it....

Oh well.......
Brilliant looking car. Yes a bit like a Clio V6 but hey..... Nothing compares to a VW.
I wonder if they will at least allow that bodykit to be sold? Would be damn expensive....

Just my view
Michael

Its a monster of a car, but there is NO WAY I would ever want to own one or even make my car look like it, its far TOOOO much. (looks wise, you can never have too much power)
Title: Re: GTI W12
Post by: Neaty on 21 May 2007, 13:10
i think it looks awesome to be honest
Title: Re: GTI W12
Post by: 08micsta on 21 May 2007, 13:17
I agree. You gotta find a equilibrium between power and looks.
Some people just dont get it......
Title: Re: GTI W12
Post by: AlanD on 21 May 2007, 13:18
Yeah, the Clio v6 I could happily drive around in and be alrite, but the W12, well I would feel like a right tw@t driving around in it, despite the fact that it would eat any car alive and spit it out.
Title: Re: GTI W12
Post by: 08micsta on 21 May 2007, 13:32
I still want one......
Title: Re: GTI W12
Post by: Manu_R32 on 21 May 2007, 14:55
IF they did make them....how much do you think they would sell them for? £100,000 plus or minus?
Title: Re: GTI W12
Post by: Neaty on 21 May 2007, 14:56
well if the RS4 is £50k it would prob be about £80k ish i reckon!
Title: Re: GTI W12
Post by: 08micsta on 22 May 2007, 16:20
I cant imagine how much it would cost... But think of it this way...

VW created the Veyron. Who knows what they might do next with the Golf. Chances are nothing will be created. But they must have a reason for creating all these concept cars?

Yeah ok. Try squeezing past to buses on a tight road with that thing, its not gonna work. Cars like that are not practical. Thats common sense. Therefore you will probably find that they will find a holy space in the house and be parked there to look pretty and every now and then taken for a spin

i love the car, its beautiful, and hardly as overstated as people are making out. but what disappoints me is the crap performance figures, only 533 f/lb's out of a twin turbo 6 litre - thats pretty poor. it should be pushing more around 720 with that engine with about 700bhp.

i dont get car manufacturers nowadays, its clear we can make 2l NA reliable 240bhp engines, but only honda are the ones sensible enough to do it. you have the likes of the new peugeot gti 1.6 turbo - with 160bhp - thats so lame, a 1.3 g40 runs about 170 with a pulley swap - and that design is about 15 years old.

i dont know about the rest of you, but its time we should start seeing some small size powerful engines, none of this 6l twin turbo, 5.5l supercharged rubbish.

and we all know what a paragon of reliability the G-charger was for VW

Manufacturers have to cope with a much wider range of legislation nowadays...the Peugeot engine you mention, like other manufacturers, produces much the same HP as a mildly tuned G40, but far more reliably and economically, and within far more stringent environmental limits than the G40 engine could ever dream of passing...plus the car its built around is far stronger and less likely to crush into a deathtrap in a serious accident

VW probably agree with you about the small size powerful engines...hence the 1.4 TSI with up to 170hp (from factory) engines going into every other small/medium VW model nowadays
