I just got my new black GTI love the car, the wait for delivery killed me, now the wait for the 1,000 mile is too.
But i love test match cricket is there any way to pick up LW radio.
Cheers Rob

Rob, I too listen to the cricket. You cant get LW on the VW radios but Radio 4 test match special should be on 720MW!! Well at least I get it here in N Ireland. Give that a go
And heres hoping for a better showing from England than in the World Cup
If 720 MW does not work try these:
Here's the list of freqs off the BBC site:
Carlisle 1485 1kW
Enniskillen 774 1kW
Newcastle 603
Plymouth 774
Redmoss 1449
Redruth MF 756

You cant in mine and its very annoying, im not sure if mine has the rcd300 or rcd500 head unit, but anyway it only has fm and am

909 radio 5 live

5 live does not carry the live cricket. Only Radio 4 does. Best bet without it is TalkSport 1053 / 1089 MW - they have updates every 15mins from Jack Bannister.

Oi, don't forget short wave, and the "Home Service"
Actually, my RS4 does pick up long wave, but as I have no interest in grown men rubbing red balls next to red balls  - then teapot and chocolate come to mind!

On the Mk1 TT (and possibly other models), LW was disabled from the factory, but could be enabled via VAGCOM or a dealer diagnostic machine - quote below from the TT forum...I never tweaked it on my TT, as I never had any need to listen to LW
I've no idea if it can be done on the VW headunits in use at the moment...you could perhaps ask at your dealer if they have any information about how it could be possibly done
You must have a 2002 model year or later TT (that is, a TT made after about July 2001). If you have the old-style 'Concert' radio-cassette with a single central knob, sorry, you can't get LW (at least not as described here). If you have the new-style 'Chorus' radio-cassette or 'Concert' radio-cd with two knobs, then read on.
The radio manual supplied with the car says that long wave is not available on TTs. I don't know why it says this, as the radio does have LW built-in. Possibly the design of the TT means that the position of the AM antenna makes long wave reception difficult, so Audi decided not to offer it, I don't know. For example, I can only pick up one English-language station (not sure which, haven't listened to it long enough yet), plus a couple of French ones. Also, there is noticeable interference on long wave from other electrical systems in the car (eg when raising and lowering the Roadster hood - not a problem for Coupe owners, obviously!).
So as standard, Audi have turned off long wave on TT radios, but you can easily turn it on again. You will need a VAG-COM or similar diagnostic tool to do this. Select Module 56, Radio. Then choose Function 10, Adaptation. Select Channel 88. The value will be 1 (one). Change the value to 0 (zero). That's all.
After doing this, if you set the radio to the AM band and search through the fequencies, it will include the LW frequencies as well as the MW ones. That is, it will cycle from 153 to 279 kHz (long wave), then 526 to 1620 kHz (or thereabouts - medium wave) then back to 153 again. So there is no separate setting for long wave, it's just treated as an extension of the AM band.

Thanks for a really useful reply nice to see these threads can get back on topic , however no good to me know as i have changed the standard unit to a Blaupunkt Nashville DAB35 i really wanted dab as well as long wave i am really happy with the unit. However even after the installation of the Blaupunkt ipod link am struggling to get track names. There is a soft wear upgrade available from Blaupunkt but to me the instruction on the upgrade are in Chinese. The DAB unit was fitted by Race Tech UK - Burnley fantastic bunch. Also offered me a very tempting re map but as a company had to pass even after they promised VW would never know it had been done !!!!.
