Bought me car in December, and recently starting hearing a stange squeaky noise when the car is ticking over and engine is cold. Don't think its fanbelt as doesn't get worse when rev. Any ideas?
Also- when really put me foot down, at about 5000 revs start to hear a kind of quiet rushing sound ( the engine sound gets less throaty and more whistly ). The red-line's not till after 6000 revs as got 20v. Any ideas or am I just being paranoid - I can only hear it when radio is off and I listen carefully.

I get it now and again >:(
Is the air conditioning belt driven ????
Could be that making the noise

Similar thing happened in ours. VW traced it to a faulty cam belt tensioner. They replaced this, together with a new cam belt and water pump, under warranty.
Which was nice.

Its stopped now, after I replaced the temp sender. hmm. If it comes back, I'll check those things out. Cheers.
