Title: Changing Standard Unit for Sat Nav in GTI?
Post by: maxamus on 17 May 2007, 09:17
Hi Guys

Im thinking of changing the standard stereo unit (which is RCD300) in my gti for this one (VW MFD2 Sat Nav):

Would this be a straight swap or is it even possible?

The DVD will allow all of europe on one DVD where as the CD is per region.
I have one and it was a straight swap, be careful where you place then antenna for good reception.
I had to trim the edges of the dash surround to stop squeaks but I am a freak when it comes to squeaks and rattles.

What about changing the RCD300 for a head unit that will play MP3s, (not sure which RCD version that would be?)

Would I be better off getting something like this? (The one at the bottom of the page!)

And how easy would it be to fit?

(sorry for hijacking the thread!)
