Hi Guys
I have set my e30 to auto lock the doors via highline computer.
One of my good friends has normal GTI with just the midline computer and he really wants to know how to do the same. please can some one advise?
Mnay thanks

Yep, I had it done on my R32. Just tell your mate to head to his dealer and ask for the 'anti-hijack' function to be turned on. It takes 5 mins over the VagCom. Make sure its done for free!! If they have not heard of the anti-hijack term, its the function that will lock the doors when the car goes over 9mph and then unlock them when the car is stopped and keys removed.
Hope this helps!

i've got a normal gti and mine does that and i have the midline computer

was that set by your dealer tho maxamus? Can any one deffinatly confirm that to do this with the midline computer you need to go to your dealer or can you do it your self?
thanks

Nathan, I worked for VW for 6 years, unless it has been done on a midline car before you received it there is no way of getting the midline to do it. Its only done over VagCom as I stated above unless you have the Highline.

Thanks alot Synnea, I will let my freind know.
-
No bother mate, any time!
-
my dealer did it for free on my midline and yes its called anti highjack.
-
glad your dealer does that for free.
i tried getting anti-hacking for my MKIV enabled and they want to charge me 1/2 hours labour for a 2 minute job

To be honest having spent thousands of pounds and I feel thats the least the dealer could do. I mean it does quite literally take 2 mins. You are simply turning on a feature of the car. More to the point, I only wish VW would make the highline standard. I have mates who were told by dealers that the 50 quid for the highline is not worth it. Well in conjunction with leaving home lights etc it allows you to adjust the timing and much more. The dealer my mate had told him he was unable to do this with the highline. Only I convinced him he was glad he paid the 50quid for it. He has also turned on his antihijack function.

didn't buy my car from them but seeing as i have my car serviced there its the least they could do. it would work out cheaper if i bought VAG COM myself and then charged for people to have it enabled! at around £40 i'd soon make my money back!
as we so often see from VW, their product is let down by their appalling customer service
i reckon some of us lot should get together and set up a dealership! we'd make a killing just by being nice to the customer!
-
I second that, but sadly as we know most stealers only care about £Â£Ã‚£$$$$$ and I dont think VW stealers have to try very hard, as they are so popular they couldnt give a monkeys if you dont go back.

I found auto locking to be a PITA on mine, because when I switched the engine off and I opened the drivers door, the rest remained locked.

Wouldnt 2 pulls on the interior handle unlock them?
-
i thought that when you took the key out of the ignition then ALL the doors unlocked :undecided:

Yes it did, but as most of the time I never remembered to tug it twice :embarassed:, I was forever walking around the passenger side, only to find it lock

They do, if the doors to not unlock when the keys are taken out the antihijack has not been enabled correctly. There are two parts to it
1 - lock doors over 9mph
2 - enable unlock when keys are removed
If your doors do not unlock when you take the keys out then you need to get it back on the VagComm again. I bet if you are driving along and try to unlock the doors using the button above the grab handle they will relock instantly.

I think thats a seperate system - the one that only unlocks the drivers door when you press unlock, a second press unlocks the rest.
Not sure whats it's called by it is programmable in highline.
The anti highjack just locks the doors when you pull off and unlocks with the key out, or you can open one door with two lever pulls.

Is there a push button locking system on GTI as there is on the door of my A3 - or is it computerised or nothing??
Quick reply would be appreciated before I collect tomorrow.
-
Push button inside on the drivers door to manually lock and unlock all doors and boot. If antihijack is enabled it will work as outlined above.
-
thanks for that.

if you are dropping someone off without taking the key out of the ignition, politely remind them of your locked doors, as so many of my passengers recently have tugged SOOO hard on the handles without realising,

I had the same problem. Particulary annoying when you tell the SAME people over and over again. They pull the handle, it does not open so they pull harder to try rip the thing off. Some people just do not think lol
