Title: coilovers

Post by: ...joe on 15 May 2007, 23:49: there are two rings that the springs sit on, use c spanners to unlock them from each other, wind up or down until your happy with the height, tighten the two rings back together. make sure they are all the same height and thats about it!

considering for the ffuture whether or not coils are a good idea so i can slam the car :laugh:

Post by: j_s on 16 May 2007, 10:36: Depends how much you spend, cheaper ones supposedly have quite a poor ride quality, you will need to get someone to take you in their car who has coilovers and judge for yourself. My Weitecs seem fine, not pleasant over nasty pot holes but then the same can be said on most cars unless you have a big 4*4.

was looking roughly around the 250 - 300Ã‚£ mark? that a sensible idea to be going on?

Post by: ...joe on 16 May 2007, 13:02: nah ideally you want to spend more than that. fk-ak's are cheap and so are supersports but having fitted some to a mates car it is significantly harsher than my highsports. also his have corroded really badly in such a short space of time.

its one of those things, you get what you pay for?!

Post by: Ben Lessani on 18 May 2007, 21:24: i got a set of those cheapo ones, jamex or supersprint, got them brand new from germany. its difficult to comment, i've had them on for about 3 weeks now, but i never tested them prior to lowering to see what the ride was like.

the car is dropped about 60-70mm and is right on its arse, the ride is extrememly bumpy over rough roads, i still do my 220mile drive down to manchester and its fine, just a bit harsh sometimes.

i haven't tried the pricey coilys, but went for a ride in my mates corsa with spax fully adjustables, and it feels just as harsh as his on full dampening. the handling of the car has gone up a lot, but sacrificed a far wedge of comfort.

if youre dropping the car any amount you're going to lose ride quality, but spend enough and you should kind of retain that OE feel. apparently weitecs are good on a budget, but you'll need to spend about Ã‚£370 for the entry level ones, then about Ã‚£400+ on koni's
