Hey guys,
I bought an imported Gti nearly 2 months ago and the car still hasn't been registered with VW UK so no warranty  I've been told 3-4 times that the car has been registered. When I spoke to VW about this I asked if I could register the car with them myself to which I was told no.
Anybody had similair problems? offer any suggestions?
Also a service book would be nice
Cheers Stuart

Your warranty is automatically enabled when your car got to the original VW dealer in Europe so you do not have to register for warranty. However, if you want to add your car to the VW system say for part-ex later then you should be able to go along and get that done at any VW dealer. I know these two things for a fact as I had an imported R32 and took it in for some warranty work with my local stealer and then part-ex'd it for my Edition 30.

I think the problem I may have is tying the registration number to the chassis number?
When I spoke to VW they had no record of YC07 *** but presumably they will have a record of the chassis number?

If in doubt, post VW UK Customer services a photocopy of your registration document and a copy of the data sticker (on the first page of the service book or boot wheel well). They will register the car on the UK dealer network and send you a VW assist card starting from when the car was first registered by the foreign supplying dealer. However with regard to warranty - the VIN tells the dealer all they need to know.

That may well be the case - I can't remember what I gave them. I think I had the leather folder with all the details so the guy may have looked at the chassis number.
