Thats my thoughts 2 but unfortunately the jetski won't get itself to the lake

VW don't do GTi tow bars, but i saw a white GTi in London with a tow bar. Looked a mess as they cut part of the rear valance away and it didn't look detachable.

Hi
We have a Seadoo Jetski and have the same problem. We cant sell the 4x4 (Mitsubishi Pajero) because we need it to get the jetski in the lake too..... Looked at a few options and they all look terrible involving cutting out rear valances etc
Not that this helped but I would say no to the tow bar and rather get a different car... Not sell the GTi just find yourself an alternative car. :nerd:
Cheers

Clearly the simplest solution is to move to the lake. Think outside the box!!

VW do a specific rear valance for the GTi (c.£42.00). I got mine part painted.

hi hatrick,i had a gti and now an ed30,vw are not going to produce a detatchable towbar for an ed 30 because of the limited run although they do for a gti. When i bought ed30 i wanted a detach bar and the dealer didnt see a prob so i signed on line. When they came to fit they tryed to palm me off with a standard gti bumper but colour coded not smooth or even similar, with the cut out and cover plate, anyway i refused the fitting. they wanted nearly 1k for this.Im thinkin of buyin an old car with a towbar for the boat season, hope this helps.

My GTI has a VW factory fit detachable tow bar that has a cover plate and the kit all in the spare wheel. I've never used it apart from to try and bash tent pegs in hard ground!

Westfalia make the original towbars that are detachable, VW sell a rear valence as noted before for less than 50quid, which has a removable flap, to allow connection of towbar and electric plug, near invisible when in place, detach bar stores in pre cut place in spare wheel tool unit.
Bought mine from Towbars direct, and purchased the original VW wiring kit and relays all in approx £240.
Took 30mins to remove bumper and another 30 to fit bar, easy.......then about 6 hours to remove all the trim and fit original wiring kit all the way through to front brake pedal and power bar under bonnet!! swore never to attempt again, but finished result is perfect, using all original VW plugs, no wire cutting, and electronics work with the standard check control, showing faulty lamps etc, also meets EU rules for cutting fog lamp on car when towing, so only fog lamp on towed item works. If anyone wants any advice if they want to self fit just ask
PS I only use this for a hitch mounted cycle carrier.............I an NOT a caravaner!!!!!
