Hey once again...
Having the GTI as my mothers daily runaround driving the kids places etc. We often offer lifts. Do the nice thing blah blah blah
Unfortunatly the kids she transports always seem to be wearing studded soccer boots...... Not sure who is to blame but it seems the rear vents in the centre console in the back have broken... Not the vent itsself. More the little silver clips ON BOTH vents. I took some rubbish pics with my phone and studied the console while driving to hostel yesterday and it seems I have not choice but to remove the cover... Cos I cant get those stupid things back in!
Will post pics in about 3 hours after I have written my English Exam....
Can anybody help?
Thanks in advance

The vent clips should be an easy thing to order from your local VW Stealers

Ok give a moment. The pics here should help.... This is what I'm talkin about...
The actual little silver thing that you use to turn the vents etc. They not broken. Just need to be clipped back in but not sure how...

And not sure how this slipped in....

Hope this makes sense. If anyone can help please shout.

No idea. Can you gain any clues from the ones in the dash?

I know how it clips in. But the problem is to clip them in I think I'm going to have to take this (look at picture) off. How do i take this off?

Excuse the crappy Microsoft Paint highlighting but what I did in black needs to come off so I can get into the vents and clip it in.... im makng this sound so complicated. I just wanna know how you take whats highlighted in black off. I looked at it and cant seem to see how...

Oi!
I wear them. Very comfy they are too.
Only usually round the house though although I accidentally ended up in the pub with them on the other day.

Micsta, im having the same problem with mine! Have you been able to sort it out?? P.S I have a pair of white crocs...very comfortable! Especially in the summer to go to the beach :P
-
Hey again
Went away this weekend so the GTI was given a short rest. Went to some random farm was very nice and muddy. A few 4x4 routes later and the pajero was very dirty. Maybe post pics but its not relevant.
I took a look at the fittings before we left and it seems to be just two simple screws that must come out and then you clip the cover off and from there its easy to put the clips back in. Knowing VW it will never be so simple though. At hostel at the moment so will see if I can fix it this weekend. Hopefully my dad will trust me enough to work on the car. If not then he will do it.
I must admit. Although Crocs are a major fashion disaster  (As far as I'm concerned)
They are nice to use around the house and as you said on the beach. I just hope nobody buys those luminous orange ones though
Manu_GTI. If you want I can send you pics and instructions by private mail.

Sorry for uprooting old thread.. but kids kicked off one of the rear vent clips as exactly described in this thread. Does anyone still have the link to that pdf link as it is file not found when i tried it. Or is it just as case of removing the rear centre console vent to allow me to fit the clip back..?? As tried clipping it back without removing the vents and doing me head in as just cannot get it to clip back on..?
