What do you guy's think? I'm not interested in fitting one, but it seems that they are popular with many car tuners (mainly french and jap). Anyone got good/bad pics or experiences to share?
here's a wonderful example, and if this turns into a 'bad pic' competition, i think i win...

It's the jet car from santa pod!!!
I can't even begin to comprehend how somebody would think that was cool
Definately no, can anybody find a worse one???
-
that is special. although i think the exhausts may be a bit too wide for the back of your mk2 ;)

By that you mean the dustbins???
Reckon they must have been on the gameshow 3-2-1 and lost!!!
-
think you might be right john? Still think of the spade loads of downforce that startrek looking spoiler offers!
-
Hmmm yeah due to the fact it probably weighs a tonne!!!
-
Oh yeah, lovin' them afterburners. LOL
It's got to be a joke surely? Taking the p1$$ out of idiots with whale tails and "my exhaust is loud therefore it's fast dude, yo-yo safe bro, beeee-atch" type peeps.
My friend turned up at my house once telling me he's customised his car, so I looked round it and couldn't see what he was on about. I climbed inside the car and noticed he had a big black dildo for a gearstick. Class

bumper was a pain to fit, the bodyshop struggled but it never fell off
speedbumps were a no though.
sold it to my brother so still in the family... and i want those wheels
-
bodykits suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!!!!!! mainly because they never look quite right on whatever car they are fitted to. they always look like such an after thought so stick out like a sore thumb, no matter how well they are fitted.
exceptions are there but generally big fat no!
-
mostly neigh, but there's something about that wide arch mk2, i want more pics!!
ten points and a chocolate biscuit if any can find pics of the carbon fibre widebody race spec mk5.
-
http://www.tuning.co.uk/rieger/ (http://www.tuning.co.uk/rieger/) loads of kits on here by Reiger!

Now then...if you are out for the championship of crap cars, here is the section you need to be looking at. Good old Top Gear

Some absolutely awful cars
-
Ive got a 1.6 mk4, but i want to get the 1.6 sign off at the back of the car, but i am worried that when i do that you could see the where the 1.6 sign was. Will this happen
-
no, they are just stuck on, i use hot watter to soften up the glue and then just prize them off, then a little white sprit will take the glue off! then just polish the area! jobs a gooden!

-
nice wheels crevice! even if they were fitted to a *cough* rover.
-
pmsl
it rattled more than my gti which is nearly twice as old and has done twice the miles...
-
Bodykits? Dont do it unless you buy a fibreglass one and are happy to rework that!
-
Blech

There are some really really AWFUL cars round here with bodykits. most the girls have either standard ka's or corsa's clios etc with stupid bodykits that look awful (they dont seem to have any taste) and then theres the lads. some are ok but some look plain ugly.
there's a renault 5 with massive chrome wheels, a stupid bodykit and a spoiler that makes it look like a shopping trolley.
-
Mr.Blue - I trust that is a sarcastic comment!
-

yeah, thats what ALL the good body shops say.... :P
-
Yes joe I am talking from experience! dunno if I'd do it again!
-
Ummm just looked at that again and umm ya cant be comparing me to a good bodyshop surely?
-
no i'm not i'm afraid len. more saying that most body shops don't use fibreglass kits and especially those which need modifying to fit.
-
I know I'm good but not that good!
-
Hell No!
This one made me laugh!

thats not really a body kit though, more a body wig :P
-
Does he have to use a hair dryer when it gets wet?
-

..........He might struggle going up hill when wet
-
Not all body kits suck!!! Zender square arched small bumper 16v Any one???Yes Please!
-
How to ruin your car!! add one body kit! VWs have a unique "LOOK".. adding to it takes away the cars identity, why make it into something that its not!
Tom

see... now i think they can look good if done well, i also think they have to suit the car they are on, subtle bumper extensions / aprons and sideskirts can look really effective and can add to the lines of the car well.
as for the many many people who seem to think veilside inspired jap styled kits will look good on saxo's and corsas, well, they are sadly deluded, and need to be put down.
example:
the 'flycatcher' kit for the saxo.
please note the optional 'sexo' sticker in the rear window.... people who came up with sh*t like this should of been aborted.

quote of the day

I think I'm with the majority on this one - although the vast majority of body kits just look sh!te, occaiosnally they can really add to a car and make it a thing of beauty.
Unfortunatly I live in Southend, so I get to see 100's of bad examples every day - although my person favorite is the 1.2 nova with the 6inch exaust that's otherwise totaly standard - way funnier than a bad body kit!
-

pmsl.... i love stuff like that, i live in aldershot, which is pretty much the same, full of chav bastards, there is a totally standard pug 106 1.0 zest which rolls around with a MAHOOSIVE jap can exhaust, no joke u can hear it comming from about 30 miles away, i easily recon i could fit my head up there (not that ive tried however) but i swear there is a family of badgers living in it.
-
i think the exception is if you're going for the authentic rally thing and have engine/paintwork to match?
-
^^^ yea, that sort of thing... im also a fan if they add to the cars look.
used to own a cinquecento (dont laugh) which had the abarth body kit, front and rear aprons and side skirts... they can look quite fetching when smoothed and euro'd
(http://www.autoholic.de/images/resized/Fiat-Cinquecento-TWTR.jpg)
^ thats got the abarth kit, the bottom half of the bumper isnt standard, neither are the side skirts... but the kit is nice and simple, just the way they should be.
-
^ i quite like that. would look great in nimbus grey or something similar?

What makes that look so good is the fact that stuff has been removed, rather than added.. Ive always said tha less is more....

although generally not a fan of bodykits i reckon some can look very good eg this one:

-
Sometimes yes sometimes no, I don't like the big veilside snowplow look but my zeemax kit looked sweet on my mini. Not on a dub though unless it's a Carat kit on a T25
