Ok where do i start since owning my mk2 great car but nothing but water problems.
Ok to start with its had a new thermerstat.
now since yesterday the car was blowing cold in from heater thought nothing of it then started to play with a wrx and as soon as i put my foot down in third gear the oil temp went right up and so did the temp gauge, i pulled over and water was pouring out of expansion bottle.
About an 5 hours later topped up water still cold air out of heaters but engine temp and oil temp fine did not rev it over 2k.
Also checked that there is no oil in water and vice versa.
So the help i need after doing a search on here.
Do i change water pump,
Do the bypass thing to heater matrix
Buy a new bottle cap
Or is there something else wrong
cheers in advance

Sounds as though your "new" thermostat may be duff, or you have a nice big air lock somewhere in the system..... Try those before you launch into more expensive repairs.

It would be nice if its a big air lock.
need it to be right as i off to mod nationals in a couple of weeks.

Check water pump drive belt tension and condition
Cant think of anything else not already mentioned.

Took the pipe off expansion bottle good flow so looks like its not water pump.
Just run the car till temp hot just topped up and will try it later

bleed system fine had lovely hot air untill i got stuck in traffic then heater went cold ans stayed there

if it aint overheating/boiling over anymore etc, then cut the bypass valves out of it..

Just checked no signs of boiling over so will b&q it tomorrow for some 22 mm copper pipe
And hopefully that will work
