The tracking is out on my 90 8v (non power), so I boked it in to ATS to get it sorted. they reported back that it had 9 degrees of toe in, but the rack is only adjustable on one side, and it would mean that the steering wheel would be even further out (which the can't adjust).
Are they talking a load of bull, and if they aren't, what are my options?
Also, my steering squeaks inside the car, any ideas?
2 non steering related questions, what is the part number of the 15" G60 winter steels (as fitted to "the golfs" yellow Mk1) and what additional parts do I need to do a 2.0ltr conversion (other than the engine, mines a digifant)
Cheers

The steering wheel is normally always out after any tracking adjustments, The steering is as you say only adjustable on one track rod so you have to set the tracking and then just undo the steering wheel and line it back up straight on the splines.
TO say it cant be adjusted is nonsense.
I wouldn't take it there myself as they seem to be chocolate merchants. Try elsewhere.
The wheels that you are after are:

Take the car elsewhere, they are talking trash.
9 deg sounds like a hell of a lot!

Cheers for that, I think I'll try my local tyre place (they do me good deals on tyres)
Thanks again

The squeaking on the steering column could be the bushes, used to have this on an old car, gets worse when it's really hot or really cold.
