Title: New HU Won't Save Stations
Post by: AlanD on 10 May 2007, 17:06
Just stuck in my new headunit into my MK4 and it wont save the stations that I add. I will add some stations and then when I turn the key off, then turn it back on again all the stations are lost. Its a Sony CDX-GT200. I swear I saw a thread on this the other day but I cant for the life of me find it.

Someone help please as I don't want to be stuck with this and I'm sure there must be a way round it.

Thanks

Take the unit out and swap over the red and yellow wires on the wiring loom (connect red to yellow and yellow to red). They should both have plugs on them to allow you to do this.

I'm a little lost, I have taken it back out and can't see what you are talking about ? ?

Here are some pics, The first is what is coming out the car. The second is from the HU (in case it wasn't obvious enough lol) The Yellow/Green/Blue thingy I am assuming is for the CD player as it doesn't plug into anything on the HU.

Cheers for the help lads.

the yellow and red wires coming from the rear of the headunit to the black plug have bullet connections with a clear cover... just pull them undone and swap em yellow to red and red to yellow... fit back.. store you stations and bingo..

Swapped them over and its all good, thanks a lot for the help. I want to remove the CD player now as its no longer in use, is it possible to get a blank plate to cover it up? If so from where? ebay?

Dont get that off eBay...get the cubby blank as its a nice little shelf that can also hold an iPod controller unit or you mobile etc and its OEM and also only around £10 from a dealer!!!  My missus had here polo broken into and the 6 Disc changer and Headunit 1/2 inched by the thieving gippo's, so we replaced it with a headunit and cubby...my MK4 is running the same with the iPod controller unit sat inside along with space for my phone...and its felt so the phone doesn't get wrecked.  Its OEM so looks spot on rather than cheap black plastic
