i could do with changing my downpipe and i would like to fit a 16v downpipe i as i have a 2 box stainless system that is too loud
so is the 16v downpipe similiar in diameter to the 8v one fitted at moment
also what problems am i likely to have fitting a new downpipe
car is a 1990 8v gti cheers

16v downpipe diameter is larger than the 8v so you would need an adapter sleeve made up for downpipe to front section, not sure about manifolds though.

manifolds are totally different engine side, but a 16v downpipe will plug into an 8v manifold & vice versa. Other issue is the 16v system is a larger bore as J_S said. The 16v system is 2.25" & the 1.8 8v systems are 2", if you can get an adaptor made up or use a 16v system then you can fit a 16v downpipe to your 8v :)
