hi could you tell me which company sells 60/40mm lowering springs as i have ordered 40mm all round before realising you may be able to get said springs.(1996 mk3 gti16v)
thanks
-
Do you mean 60 front and 40 rear?
-
One thing about lowering the front 60mm.....if your using the standard shocker's the ride will be hard as the standard shock's will be half way through there stroke.... you can buy shorterned shock's designed for this or buy lowering spring cap's on 40mm spring's (these will give about 10-15mm with out losing the comfort of your shocker's)

Think this is same question as in Chat Related Bradley, where you gave him the lowering caps solution!
-
ooooooooppppppppppsssssss!!!!!!!
-
Not your fault if he asks the same question in different sections!
Mind you I have done the same if I wanted to get something noticed!

thanks guys.what is involved with doing the job(trying to save cash).cheers

If you are just changing springs then you will need a bit of kit. The correct ring spanner and hex head bit to undo the top mount. Then a set of spring compressors. Just follow what it says in Haynes.
-
cheers,so is it essential to get these spring caps for the front(60mm springs) as i am using standard shocks,if so where to i get tghem from?.thanks
-
the spring cap's are if you want to lower your car further otherwise use your original's....just ensure they sell you the correct diameter spring's as these change on 1994 from an 80mm pigtail to a 65mm pigtail and as other forum member's have proved even good?? places can get these mixed up (check this thread for info http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=58602.0 (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=58602.0)) and one last thing I would buy a pair of top mount's as these wear alarmingly on the front (cost about £20 a pair but will save a good hour's labour later on)
