right guys, two weeks ago my car decided it wasnt going to start, so i got the car dropped off at the garage to be repaird.
Here is the problem, pump seems to be fine, pressure is fine coming out of the fuel filter, and entering the metering head. But the fuel is not coming out, got hold of a 2nd metering head and that was fitted today (first one i got had a crack in it) still the car wont start...
can anyone help? it's almost my birthday and im annoyed as i wont be able to take the car to ferrybridge meet on my bday, and it's getting expensive and i could have put a 16v lump in! Argh...
We've changed the fuel pump relay also!
thanks guys!

Not full of sugestions I'm afraid but... do you have fuel now the metering unit has been changed (again)? If so the next things to check are leads, plugs and timing....
I had a 9a 16V engine in my Corrado and had soooo many problems with various metering units - would seem they're a common problem for more than just the valver engines
Best of luck getting it sorted mate!
-
is the tank full of sh!t? has it made its way through to an injector (still should start on 3 though). tell us what happens when you prime the ignition, give it a mo then crank
-
the pump is priming and fuel is under the correct pressure, the fuel still does not come out of the meteering head even with the new one, if i release the bolt things in the union where fuel lines go and prime ignition no fiel comes out!
i there a regulator that could me stopping this? or a relay? think we've changeds the fuel pump relay!
i want my car back!!!
-
it wouldnt prime though, have you had lines flushed? you can use a foot pump if you are stuck....
-
im hoping the garage have good news for me tonight after work!
-
i am not getting mine back until next week now!!! the guy who was working on it is off until then! how poo is that
-
it's raining, im on my bike and about to leave work it cant be good news!
-
yeah but think how tight your ass will be ..... well i am!! lol
-

 I was thinking that the other day Han.
-
i know, hopefully this will be sorted, just a stupid problem thats intermittent, until now, seein as the garage have flattened the battery! and used 1/4 tank of fuel prattin about!
-
well at the end of the day han if you love your car, then all will be forgiven as soon as you can drive it again!
-
yeah, just been thinking the same thing! i cant wait to get in it a nd drive again, i hate not having a car! it's rubbish!!! Argh!!
hopefully they'll have good news wthis afternoon at the garage as they have the first day they can have a good look at it today! :) Woop woop!
-
Any news Han?
-
The garage are sh!te! they now think it IS the pump, as fuel comes out of the sender unit/fuel tank pump thing (under rear bench) but not out of the main fuel pump under rear wing,
MEGA ANNOYED TONIGHT!
-
I think you need to go into this garage with your lasoo (sp?) and shout "yeah ah !"
-
sounds sh't han, sorry your getting messed about! dont worry i am sure when i get mine back it wont have been the tank and i can bunny hop around whilst swearing!
-
So they didn't think to pop an injector out stick it in a jamjar and turn it over then? If you're getting a good spray at the injectors then the problem is elsewhere. Sheesh!
Barkstar :nerd:
-
you sure you've taken it to a garage and not a bakery or something by accident?
-
yeah dont take it to Greggs, you will get a nice sandwitch mind!
-
think the car is still broke, 2 fuel pumps later...
-
Are they bleeding the air out of the system? If not done right can cause fuel to stop getting through metering head. Also if you take the metering head off the air filter box, there is a spring that is held in the metering head that has various rubbers in it to filter the fuel properly. If this is broken or filled up with crap it will stop any fuel going from metering head to the injectors.
-
UPDATE!
Beryl is filthy! sat in the garage collecting much and greasy marks :(
right, after finally getting the correct fuel pump and it being fitted along with the new metering head, the car now has brilliant fuel pressure and is coming out of the metering head fine! only problem is now that the car still doesnt start! i find it highly unlikely that all 4 fuel lines are blocked, or that all of the ingjectors have failed or stopped working at the same time!
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
what's going on? i want the car back today! :'(
-
Chin up... it won't be long now mate! Progress has been made and you have fuel at the metering unit again so there can't be too much more to check and check again before it's running and you're enjoying some topless action
-
oooh topless action! i like the sound of that (with regards to my car!)
-
han, even if the fuel is getting to the metering head it don't mean the metering head is pushing fuel out to the injectors, this needs to be tested with taking off each injector and making sure fuel is getting to the injectors themselves and then putting injectors back on and doing a test to make sure injectors are working ok (see link below for test). If this is all working, you need to check your getting a spark from the spark plugs and that the timing is correct as I'd had in the past when I've taken off metering head I've had to reset the timing up again, thus the engine will just turn over and over but not fire up.
Here is a link to help you on testing the injectors... - this is a must test to do...
