Title: beeping?

i put in a new head unit into my mk3 a while back and it kept resetting itself everytime i turned the engine off (i.e. radio channels which i tuned in untuned them selves etc). so today i finally got some free time and took out the head unit, and swapped around the red and yellow wires (positive and negative i believe) which sorted the problem, but now when i turn my engine i get a beeping sound 3 times in a row. what is this? is it normal? many thanks

What headunit is it? Red and yellow are actually both positive, but one is permanently live and one only comes on with the ignition. Do you mean you get the beeps when you turn your engine off? A lot of headunits will do this to remind you to take the faceplate with you, so if this is when it's happening it's perfectly normal.

The head unit is Sony CDX-GT212. yeah i get the beeps when i turn the engine off.

I have a sony HU and I get the 3 beeps.
