Title: ATF Flush
Post by: rowlers on 05 May 2007, 12:48
Just emptied my oil, after running for a week (250 miles or so) with 1/2 a litre of Automatic Transmission Fluid in my oil.

First impressions:

No adverse effects!!!

Oil temp on MFA has dropped to 94-100. This used to sit between 104 and 108!

So looks good so far, will update again in a few days see if there are other noticable differences!!

HI

Be carfull doing that know of a case were an oil company mixed up the drums, they put a form of ATF into drum maked fully Synthetic oil and a S type merc was filled up with it, ran ok but after a while started to use a lot of oil went through 4 L.t. in 2000 miles, also was added to a sabb turbo and ended up recking the turbo seals
When the oil was sent back to the company for testing  they said from running ATF in a engine that it just has added 50,000 miles on to its life
lucky enough they were in the wrong a paid for a brand new engines for both cars

yeh, but that woul be a full fill of ATF, I only had 1/2 litre, the rest was 10/40 standard semi synth.

Its running very well at the moment!

Alot of the chaps over at the "other" forum do this as a matter of course before an oil change!
