can anyone point me in the right direction??
Just in case I scew up installing new speakers :-/
-
no no,
put the speakers in the doors or rear pannels dependent on 3 or 5 door. You can fit 17cm speakers in there they will sound better, look standard so you dont get some thieving little git after them and no cutting of holes
-
I have done all of the above. Fitted some very nice Alpines in, all is very neat and tidy.......
Before I go on, I would like to state, I am not a boy racer who lives at home and spends all his money sticking bits on to the car and drives it up and down the High street like an idiot.
......The thing with sticking the speakers in the doors is that it has an inherant problem with the amount of space around the speaker, this will reduce the amount of travel back and forth from the woofer thus losing a certain amount of that warm deep bass.
The speakers do sound good, I just wanted to try out the above theory hence wanted to track down a cheap 2nd parcel shelf I can hack up. No tears if it all goes wrong eh :)

You want to keep those speaker in the doors for your mid and vocal sounds and get a sub for the bass this makes the world of difference
-
Yeah youre right, good idea, but Ive sourced a parcel shelf for 30 squid so I think I'll try the speakers in that.
Loathed to get a boy racer sub in the boot, but might have to step into that territory.
Thanks for the replies ;)

Was looking into this as well due to the GTI we have just bought having the 6x9's sitting nice and visible in the rear shelf. I found out that Halfords has to order rear parcel shelves that have been reinforced and allow the 6x9's to be mounted from below therefore being totally hidded. They cost ?99 and seem pretty standard looking and strong. Thinking of trying this out as an option.

What alpines have you fitted in the back ?
