Title: ISV Allen grub screw ???
Post by: Dub-77 on 04 May 2007, 10:34
Can any one tell me what the 2mm ( I think  :undecided: ) grub screw does that goes under the elec plug inbetween the 2 pins on a 16v ISV most of them have yellow paint over them.
Is it to adj how the ISV works i.e does it cont what rpm it stabilise's too???

Cheers
Darren

You mean the little stop screw on the end of the ISV?
If its the one painted yellow it means you can't adjust it at all. Its called a jack stop, this means that if a ISV fails the jack pistons stops and pushes against that section so it can operate partialy i.e the butterfly stays open to get you home without total cut out? NO touchy I'm afraid it won't help if the valve is sticking!

Clipperjay thanks for that  i was starting to think I had everyone stumped on this one.
I have removed this screw and put it back in but i'm not sure if its in the correct place thats all.
I have the cold start thing of the car starts 1st turn off the key then revs to 1900rpm then drops to say 650rpm then shudders like mad then picks back up to 1150rpm before stabilising to 1000rpm.
I was wondering if that screw was something to do with it ???

Sounds like the cold start injector is flooding the engine blue plug on the end of the inlet manifold with a fuel hose going to the part. Unplug it before starting on a morning see if that makes it any better.
