Title: Pirelli special edition GTI
Post by: phope on 02 May 2007, 21:31
Seems to be some rumours of a German market special edition coming soon

Some potential spy pic over on http://www.golf5gti.com/viewtopic.php?t=5198&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=120 (http://www.golf5gti.com/viewtopic.php?t=5198&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=120)

Seems to be based on the Edition 30, and signifies 25 years of the original Pirelli GTI in Germany (Campaign model Mk1s over here). Example shown is yellow, 5 arm 18" alloys with leather and alcantara seats, with yellow stitching in place of the Edition 30 red.

Not as nice as the original "P" wheels. :cool:

Just the word "Pirelli" would put me off.  And coupled with the fact that it actually cometh with shyteh tyreth - nah thanks.

Colour is nice though, and I do like the dark anthracite rims - they are tasty.  Who makes those rims, 'cause they don't look like the traditional BBS offerings?  (Excuse my thickness for detailed GTI history  :embarassed: )

Hey, talking of special edition models, I read in a mag yesterday that the UK should be getting the Golf RSI come Sept.  Limited to just 500 models, with, wait for it, the R36 engine from the forthcoming Passat. How  :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil: is that?  I think they said RRP should be just under 29k.  I'm going to tell my dealer to keep me informed of any more details and when orders can go in. Sounds the dogs  :cool:

Have you noticed that the detail on the rims of the 5 spokes makes it look like 5 "P"'s. So again I think they are trying to link back with the original Pirelli alloys with the "P" holes in them. Nice touch :cool:

Do manual cars get a metal foot rest? As I'm sure my DSG car hasn't. Better go and have a look!

nope my DSG doesnt have a metal foot rest, i can see it being that, what a waste of money for a stainless steel foot rest??? That just isnt VW!, surely a good one for cost saving!

You haven't even got your Edition 30 yet! By the way, what mag was that in?  :evil: :evil: :evil:

Both the manual and DSG get a left footrest - but not metal, unlike the LHD ones which are metal.  I complained to my stealer about this, and was given some BS regarding "too small" to make a metal footrest!  :sick:  :sick:

I told them that was pure horse $h!t, 'cause my RS4 manages to have a metal foot rest!

TT=1, Stealer=0

Penny pinching VW, me thinks :angry:  :angry:
