Title: 130 PD Induction problems
Post by: GTier on 02 May 2007, 17:49
hi can anyone help? down behind the drivers side headlamp is a small rediator. The pipe to this keeps coming adrift. Once refitted the car runs perfectly until it comes off again. Im not really sure what the readitor is for but I dont think the pipe is just working loose. Once it is on it does not come off easily.  Is there any chance this can become pressurised and blow off? has anyone any ideas please?

think you're spot on there mate.  130's have side mounted intercoolers.  have a good look at the pipe and where it fixes too; not heard of them coming off!

it should have a hose clip on it to keep it in place

i had a similar problem with mine, the radiator you're talking about is actually the inter cooler like the others have said.  the pipe should be help in place with a clip of some sort, and not just wedged in.

becuase its part of the turbo system the pressure can get very high, so what seems secure to you, could easily blow off when you get full boost.

i'm not sure how easy that pipe is to inspect on the 130, but check to see if a clip has snapped gone missing or if the connector on the pipe is worn.

oh when it comes off, you have no power and lots of white smoke yeah?

good luck

My mate has a seat ibiza fr 130. And there the same under the hood as golfs. His intercooler messed up cause the dealership did not put in on right. All black smoke kicked out the back and no power more or less. Lucky he was near the seat dealership lol.

not sure mate; you'd need to find out the engine code to be certain

When the hose is off, just give the car a bit of gas, if it smokes like a b!tch, there is an intercooler pipe off.  The 130's have a few problems with these.  Usually the lower oost hose
