Title: cabby carb or injection
Post by: mabelt25 on 01 May 2007, 15:10
Girlfriend is considering buying a cabby, wanted to know what you all think,do we buy a carb model or a fuel injected model?which is best?performance for each?fuel consumption?and what prices are realistic for a good example of each?Read the buyers guide, brilliant and very helpful! But you cant beat asking owners their opinion.
any advice,really appreciated Nik

u wanna carb. they're loads better in my opinion. mines a carb and she's great! Karmann's a 1.5 and she does quite well with fuel. not got the exact figures but she's better than my mates 1.4 corsa.

And you get Arse ripped by the previous owner when trying to buy one... I spent 3 months chasing them and everyone wanted 1k more than they were worth, just for "Nice" seats...and orange needles.. My Clipper cost about 1/4 of a rough high mileage Sport or Riv.. and it's only got 80k on it!

Injection every time for me and if you get a carb then it will more than likely need the original pierburg changing for a webber as they are supposed to be a nightmare, but that's only from what I've read. I don't think the MPG is that much different either as I was getting 32-33 mpg on average on my old Rivage for as long as I had it so MPG about the same but the GTI will be quicker, but it depends what you want really, yes GTI's are quicker but cabs are for pose, not speed. Oh yeah, and you will pick up a clipper cheaper than a Sportline or a Rivage but they look so much nicer for me.
