replaced my thermosat at the weekendand to do that had to take the power steering and alternator belt off. I noticed when i went to refit the belt it was very close indeed to the tensioning bracket (about 1 mm). Is this normal as i didnt really look when i took it off? It also appears to be squeeling when turning round corners which i assume is the power steering belt. How tight dose it need to be as at the moment there seem to be a cm or two travel on the belt (this was about as tight as we could get it before rounding the belt off. Could the bracket being so close to the belt be causing problems?

No one have any ideas for this one?

If you turn your wheels completly when the car is still (with the engine on), does it squeek then?
If it does, you should tighthen the belt a bit.
The belt on my car is very tight (about 0.5 to 1 cm deflection).
