If you remove your door strips from a Mk3 your obviously left with all the holes to attach the strips to....
How much do people reckon it would cost to smooth the door / wings and does anyone know of anyone who has done it ?
-
Its prob a fair bit of work mate, i did it on a mk1 and it took me weeks to get it right... In the end i resorted to lead filling (which is illegal now) and a fine skim of filler over the top
-
Its not just the holes though! There is an approx 15mm deep channel in the doors and wings that you will need to fill to get a completely smooth look.
Could weld in a bit of plate.
I did take a piccy of a completely smooth one when I was up at the Skeggie Show.

would be nice to have a look Len
I can imagine it would involve quite a lot, stupid question - could you pull the body work out to get rid of the channel ? I would think not at a guess
-
No you couldnt pull it out! at each end the panels are shaped and indented.
When I have time I will send it to you or post it on here.
-
time to get out the big hammer then
or maybe the fall back position of CL door strips
-
TBH the one I've got a pic of was very well done and finished but to me it just looked like something was missing!
Then ya got the problem of finding them! Unless your lucky like ace!
-
Your info was well helpful on getting hold of them Len.
