I was driving home from the cambridge meet last night and had a dirty great big hare run out on me.
Was doing about 80 at the time so there was no time to try and avoid it..................WHACK!!!!
Turned my sounds down and there a horrible rubbing/grinding sound going on at the front, had to drive about a mile until I could pull over safely.
Get out to find my arch trim flapping about in the breeze, it had been rubbing on the tyre and had burnt a massive hole in it  On further examination it turns out I was very lucky, the hare had just glanced off the bottom corner of my bumper so the bumper/foglight/chin spoiler etc had all survived. The arch trim had popped off its rivets all the way round to the back so there was no damage to the wing either.
I've just been on the phone to my local stealer and incredibly I was able to order a fresh new pair of front arch trims!!! I thought everybody had been saying these went obsolete a long time ago???

yes your very lucky! dont know about the wheel arch trims though

I hope you took it home and stewed the b*stard
and yeah you were lucky with so little damage....i caught a crow with my windscreen a couple of years ago and it came through and splatted my dash with it's gut's

pretty sure people have had hassle getting them in the past, the guy at Vindis said he was showing one in stock at the factory. Providing the computer isn't lying I may have just purchased the last one!!!
I would have gone back Bradley just to make sure it was doubly dead  but when I looked in my mirror there was just a plume of fur/guts etc in the air that the car behind me then emerged through!!! Thought I better keep going.

all i could see was a bloody great *poof* of feathers in my rear view mirror - stopped over to check and i had it's head sticking out of my grill next to the VW badge! LOL was comical & digusting..

If you're ever unfortunate enough to hit a horse or pony, duck under the dash if you got time.
I saw a mini many years ago totaly blitzed from hitting a pony. I had to wrestle the poor bugger to the floor (twist its head) then lay on its neck because he kept running into the traffic. A WPC turned up and it died shortly after that. (She sobbed saying she used to have a pony, arghh bless).
Can't remember what happened to the ocupants of the car though, don't think I wanted to look to be honest.

I went on a company go-kart racing thingy once, and on the way home my boss had a "spirited drive" alongside a moter bike in his shine new 911. A fox tried to cross the M25 right in front of him! BOOM BOOM! He said he was doing about 145 when he hit the breaks and thinks he hit the fox somewhere around the 110-120 mark - we were in a car behind (way behind) but when we met him just before the dartford tunnel we discovered that one of the legs had come off and the fur had spontaniously caught fire upon impact! Oh yeah, and the whole thing was wedged inside the big air inlet at the front! (luckily he had the normally aspirated one so the intakes mostly for show) I pulled it out while he suported himself over the crash barrier and tried not to throw up.
We found the next day when he came in that the fox had hit so hard to had totaly buckled the spare wheel - it was lucky he hit the thing dead centre on the car, all he needed was some cosmetic repairs to the front and a new spare wheel, if it'd been slightly to the left or right could've lost both my company directors...actualy maybe it was un-lucky?!

i hit a pheasant too. feathers a plenty!

Wahey had a call from the stealers earlier to say my shiny new front arch trims are ready to collect. Apparently the offside one I really needed was the last one in stock at the factory.
I have to say, just recently I've been ordering a lot of parts from my local VAG garage and I think a lot of people would be suprised how cheap some items actually are direct from a dealership.
My front arch trims were £25 each incl vat, from gsf they are £28 +VAT and that's for a pattern part!!!

I hit a pigeon with the old Passat. That was messy. And hit another pigeon when riding my old motorbike. The daft bast@rd hit my crash helmet and did and I had to fight to stay on the bike. Brown pants scared!
