Title: What BHP is the Anniversary 16v 2.0 GTI?
Post by: haf1zur on 30 April 2007, 11:22
Hi

This has been burning my mind recently, i have been checking etka and it says that my car is 115bhp, its a 2.0 litre 16 valve gti. I thought the Anni's were 150bhp?

Is Etka wrong or do i really have a 115bhp car. My engine code is AGG

Thanks

Hafizur

ps! was there ever a 2.0 Turbo for the MK3?

You could have got in your car and put your foot down to work this one out   us 16v boys know you'll get nowhere fast in an 8v

Most Anni's were 8v so 115bhp
Which if your engine code is AGG thats what you got!

Think there was around only 150 mk3 Anni's with the 16v engine.
The 16v has the engine code ABF.

The only turbo in the Mk 3 range is a diesel.

weird, as going from the badge outside it says 16v, wondering if i have the right engine code,

would vag-com show up how many valves or the engine code anywhere?

the sticker in the boot is very faded and hard to tell what it really says

Just look under the bonnet mate!

Stamped/embossed on the alloy inlet manifold should be DOHC 16.

That makes it VERY clear!

yeah just look at the engine...

16v should have a manifold like that

ignoring the fact its a scirocco 16v inlet with the throttle body on the opposite side.. and the fact its blatently a mk2.. its also got a whacking great supercharger in there.... not the best example pic to post

I spotted that too topher but was just pointing out that it wasnt a Mk 3 Inlet manifold!
loads of other differences too, like the fuel rail.

i was in a rush and trying to find an 8v to compare it to lol...

you can see from that what i mean.. if his engine dont look like that then its the 8v lol

if it looks like this (http://www.demonvw.co.uk/photos/engines/engines_120.jpg)

then someone has been tinkering a lil bit too much haha

If it's an AGG it's an 8v.

Not really what you want to hear but the anniversary doesn't have a 16v badge, just has a red GTI badge on front and back.

Has it got the chequered interior, golf ball gear knob, red seatbelts BBS wheels etc?

looks like its an 8v then, it has the chequered seats, golf ball gear know, red seatbelts and bbs wheels yes

just isnt a 16v engine, and has GTI 16v in red on the back.

is it worth keep this as it is or should i just convert it like i wanted to?

keep it stock mate, it'll keep value as a standard Anni.

If you want a 16v then sell the Anni and buy a good 16v and you should have some money left over for a few mods.
