Can somebody help? I has just gotten my golf gti but the OEM brakes don't seems to be very good. I realised the brake pads are not parellel to the brake disc. Is this normal? its like the brake pads are 45 degree angled. is this some progressive braking thing? advice please

Huh, do I take it that you have just taken delivery of a brand new GTI ???
If so, then the brakes (like the rest of the car) require bedding-in before they achieve maximum efficiency. When they are fully bedded in, you'll be surprised how good they are.
The 45 degree angle you refer to, is simply a "chamfer" of the pad material on the leading and trailing edges. This merely helps prevent brake squeal.

What am I voting for OEM brakes or OEM brakes? :undecided:
Welcome to the forum hub  You need to see if you can go back into the poll set up and alter the options to yes and no.
For my penneth - At the moment they are good enough and fit for purpose. When I have a remap...I'm borrowing TT's ceramic stoppers

Not having done a poll thingy before, are you able to alter them, in the same way you can edit posts?

I must say, I personally find mine a little weak - but I'll reserve judgement until after I ditch the horrendous Dunlops, and get some real boots with real rubber in them. That way, I'll know weather the iffy stopping ability is down to the boots or anchors.
If I were to change them, I'd try keeping the OEM route, by using the fronts from the .:R32.

Ha - but you'll have to ditch those pesky Pescaras, 'cause my ceramics will only live under 19s. :nerd: :smug:

If we're voting for brakes, I have no hesitation in recommending AP Racing's Big Brake Kit. Awesome stopping power, no fade, very smooth (no snatching), and, very importantly, excellent pedal feedback. OEM are good but not as good. The AP's ain't cheap though.
